Centre for Law and Human Rights

The Centre for Law and Human Rights (CLHR) at ICLS is a cornerstone of the institution’s educational philosophy, dedicated to cultivating a deep commitment to human rights advocacy in its students.

The Centre for Law and Human Rights (CLHR) at ICLS is a cornerstone of the institution’s educational philosophy, dedicated to cultivating a deep commitment to human rights advocacy in its students. ICLS recognizes that future lawyers play a critical role in addressing global imbalances that perpetuate economic and political inequality, exploitation, insecurity, poverty, and environmental injustice. To equip students for this essential role, ICLS provides a comprehensive human rights education program that goes beyond theoretical knowledge, emphasizing the vital experience of working in tandem with professionals to protect those directly affected by human rights abuse.

As a key component of this centre, the CLHR has forged a strategic partnership with Amnesty International South Asia, working collaboratively towards a better future for human rights in Pakistan. This collaboration is instrumental in fostering a well-rounded learning experience for students. The CLHR organizes workshops, seminars, and webinars led by renowned human rights experts, delving into critical topics such as children’s and women’s rights, human rights, and international humanitarian law.

These sessions specifically address the human rights challenges faced by Pakistan on a daily basis, ensuring students gain practical skills necessary to become effective advocates at both national and international levels. CLHR has actively hosted various events, consistently highlighting the importance of advocating for human rights. A notable example of its collaborative efforts includes a workshop held in conjunction with Amnesty International South Asia on Amnesty’s “Write for Rights” campaign, further demonstrating the Centre’s dedication to practical engagement and raising awareness.
